Turning evolving ideas into grounded, usable design

CHALLENGE
Simplify a dense, technical estimation tool into something usable and brand-aligned
AUDIENCE
Contractors, customers, sales reps

I helped transform dense, spreadsheet-driven logic into a responsive, customer-facing calculator for a global building materials brand. The tool needed to handle multiple product systems, optional inputs, and custom formulas while remaining intuitive for contractors on any device.

My role was to take raw technical data and shape it into a modular experience that felt simple, trustworthy, and on-brand. I designed a step-by-step interface, built visual logic around system types (silicone vs. acrylic), and embedded clear outputs with real-world clarity (“30 pails” instead of “150 gallons”). This wasn't just a form—it was a strategic tool built to scale. I planned for responsiveness, user education, and future reuse across systems. Working with developers and strategists, I brought structure to complexity and clarity to a high-friction moment in the sales journey.

Tool-driven UX for clarity and confidence

To turn a dense technical spec into an intuitive experience, I focused on modular design, responsive behavior, and logical clarity. The result was a user-friendly calculator that made complex product data feel simple and actionable.

  • Logic and flow: A guided step-by-step interface breaks down inputs by substrate, warranty, and system type.
  • Output formatting: Real-time results show gallons and pails with supporting notes for clarity.
  • Mobile-first: Stacked inputs, sticky CTA, and collapsible sections improve usability on small screens.
  • Developer support: Figma handoff included logic notes and reusable design patterns to streamline implementation.

Building better tools for smarter decisions

This project was about more than presenting product data. It was about helping users make high-stakes decisions with speed and clarity. From first concept to final prototype, I focused on turning complexity into confidence.View User Flows
01
Groundwork
Making the math make sense
The project started with a spreadsheet and a reference tool. I decoded the logic and reorganized it into a usable structure that supported APOC’s product architecture.
02
Design in action
Structure that works on-site and on the go
I designed a clean, mobile-responsive layout that walks users through key steps and produces instantly readable results.
03
Collaboration at speed
Design that’s easy to build and evolve
I partnered closely with our developer, embedding logic and scale into every component to ensure fast, accurate implementation.
04
Final impact
From friction to flow
The finished experience is clear, helpful, and aligned with how APOC’s customers work. It’s more than an interface—it’s a sales tool built to support trust and action.
